Wardrobes. Love-hate relationship with our clothes and the overwhelming feeling of trying to stay up-to-date with the latest trends is stressful. Stress no more... we have the perfect read for you on 'How To Save Money On Your Wardrobe!'
Here’s a little task for you, our lovely readers… yes, you too guys!
Go to your wardrobe.
Now count how many items you haven’t worn in the past 18 months.
Throw them away… We dare you! (Actually, donate them… don’t throw them away!)
It’s time to de-clutter. Yes, it can be a painful and emotional process but chances are if you haven’t worn that item of clothing in the past 18 months, you probably don’t have any plan to wear it soon in the near future.
It’s time to save some money on your wardrobe and invest in you!
Fast fashion has become the latest trend, taking what’s on the runway (and what’s so hot right now) and pumping it out to the retailers. Usually these kinds of clothes will retail for about $20-$40. Not bad if you’re on a budget.
However, these styles of clothes will ultimately go out of trend (give them a few months) and suddenly you stop wearing them. Once a season ends, you adapt to the changes in weather with your clothing, and what was in-style last summer, is completely different to what is in-style the next. It’s a hard life.
We have a solution for you. You may gasp at first and a lot of you will probably disagree with us, but please, amuse yourself.
Buy quality and classic items of clothing that will never out-date themselves. So simple. Timeless pieces.
Ok, ok so this may mean you need to pay a little extra for your clothes but get used to it.
We’re not saying you need to spend hundreds of dollars on the one item of clothing, but it’s time to expand your budget a little, buy pieces you truly fall in love with, and buy less often. Over time, you’ll find you actually spend LESS money on clothing.
It can be tempting to go into those fast fashion retailers because of the price, and you NEED a new dress TONIGHT because you’ve got a hot date.
Let’s just say if you already had a few classic dresses sitting in your wardrobe you can easily accessorize with, you wouldn’t be going out to spend more money. Because, those classic dresses are in your closet for one simple reason... you LOVE them, and want any and every chance to wear them.
We’ve done our research and have narrowed down those classic pieces you need in your wardrobe.
For the Women!
It's safe to say jeans will NEVER go out of style. And the combinations are endless! Stick to dark wash jeans if you want a more slimming appearance!

4. The White Blouse
A white blouse gives you that crisp, chic look. Feminine, flattering and super stylish.
5. Ballet Flats
Two words... seriously comfy! Ballet flats are always a go-to when you have no idea what to put on your feet.

Hello versatility! Layer it, tuck it in, let it hang free... with denim, a skirt, over a tank, with a sweater. Endless opportunity for your plain white tee!
7. Shaded T-Shirts
They say white is always the classic, but there is definitely room for black and grey in your closet.
8. Ankle Boots
They're cool enough to wear before and after Winter has passed. A closed-in style shoe is a wardrobe must-have and a pair of ankle boots ticks all the boxes. Plus, it dresses up a pair of jeans!
Be sun safe people. Get yourself a nice pair that will go with any outfit. You can never go wrong with black.
10. The Sweater
Preferably cashmere. Why? Because it's unbelievably soft! You want a good quality sweater that will last you winters (and one that isn't itchy).
11.The Pencil Skirt
Now you can get creative with your colours and patterns! Don't opt in for any old black or white (unless you're going corporate), look for something that will make a statement!
12. Classic Black Pants
Just like a LBD, classic black pants are a must... the cut, up to you. Wear them with your silky blouse or your plain white tee.
For the Men!
These can be dressed up or down, and the choice of colour is yours!
2. The White Button Up
Short-sleeved, long-sleeve, linen, cotton, or a combination of all of those. It's completely versatile!
3. The Navy Suit/Blazer
It's a given guys, you look GREAT in a navy blue suit! Deviate from the traditional black and style up your wardrobe with the classic navy.
4. The Polo
Casual, yet classy! There are SO many styles, keep it casual or make it classy.
Pair the right watch with an outfit, and it can instantly transform it! That and you'll always know what time it is.
Denim will never go out of style, not even for men.
7. Black or Brown Lace Ups
Do we need to say why? These will follow you to the office and then out on the town.
They're not exactly elegant but they are comfy. These are your go-to when you want to lounge around all day.
9. The Plain White Tee
There's just something about a white T-shirt that makes an outfit. They never not look good!
You probably don't want to wear your beautiful lace ups out to lunch (unless you're fancy like that). We're not going to say you must get white (as there are some seriously cool coloured ones out there), but white will match anything!
11. Navy Blue Crewneck Jumper
Cotton-mix crewneck in navy can be worn with pretty much everything. Layer in the winter and a feature piece in the summer. Classic. Sexy. Win.
The frame that suits them all... plus, your eyes will be happy. You'll look sharp, classy, and sexy.
13. The Peacoat
Timeless. Classy. Made for the modern men.
OK, now we want to know YOUR thoughts lovely readers! Do you agree/disagree with us on investing in quality, classic items that you will buy less of? Or do you think the fast fashion trend is the way to go? Any other items to add to our lists of essentials?
